Overland Australia Series, Episode 195

I sell my trusty wheels in Perth, catch a flight to Brisbane and then a ferry to Moreton Island. Then five days of baking in the sun as I beach walk my way around island to check out the wrecks and isolation. This is a fisherman’s 4×4 island. Not a backpackers destination. There is a high-end resort with fast ferry service for those with money to burn. I opted for the poor-man’s trek with my own tent and simple gear (yes more cans of baked beans). I did this hike 15 years ago and it is still off the backpacker circuit radar and according to the local fishermen, they’d like to keep it that way.
